The FW47's hybrid system maximizes the performance of the car while complying with Formula One’s strict regulations. Comprising a battery and two motor/generators units, the hybrid system is coupled to the V6 engine. Conventionally lost during braking, kinetic energy is recovered by one motor/generator unit and converted into electricity, which is stored in the battery and used to assist acceleration in the car. The other motor/generator unit is connected to the turbocharger as an electric device. This device recovers energy from the exhaust and converts it into power to help propel the car forward.
The Atlassian Williams Racing hybrid system is at the forefront of technology, with their current generation of Formula One car containing one of the most efficient internal combustion engines ever produced.
Komatsu's hydraulic excavator HB365LC-3 features hybrid components working in tandem with the internal combustion engine. In Komatsu's cutting-edge hybrid system, the electric swing motor generator captures energy as the upper structure slows down and converts it into electrical energy. This regenerated energy is stored in the capacitor and can be used to perform the swing function or, just like the FW47, to help the engine accelerate. The hybrid system can reduce overall fuel consumption by up to 20% compared to a conventional excavator, contributing to lower running costs and emissions.
In 2008, Komatsu debuted the world's first hybrid hydraulic excavator. Since then, Komatsu has continued to evolve as a pioneer in hybrid technologies.

This final drive wheel was developed and manufactured by Komatsu. This gear would sit around the rear differential of the transverse gearbox jointly developed by Komatsu and Williams Racing in the 1990s. The Komatsu-influenced transmission propelled Williams to 11 pole positions, 15 podiums, 8 Grand Prix wins, and both the Drivers and Constructors' Championships, proving Komatsu engineering technology can also meet the challenge of motorsports.
