Komatsu Cummins Chile : A strategic alliance that’s 9,200 people strong

The Komatsu Cummins Chile facility in Santiago brings together financial support teams, human resources and the corporate group that supports the operation of Komatsu and Cummins in Chile, as well as manufacturing and sales functions. Customers visit to attend component service workshops and technical training at the Komatsu Training Center, while students and members of the community are welcome for tours and up-close views of the 930E electric drive mining truck on display outside.

Komatsu Cummins Chile is a strategic alliance between Komatsu Limited of Japan and Cummins Inc. of the United States. Formed in 1999, it joins two world leaders in their fields to help boost the productivity of Chile’s mining, construction, industrial, forestry, energy and transportation sectors. Currently, it employs about 9,200 people.

Perhaps the most unique segment of the Komatsu Cummins Chile operations is Fundación Reinventarse, a foundation dedicated to reintegrating criminal offenders into the labor market. The foundation’s mission encompasses training and work programs inside correctional facilities as well as support and advocacy services in communities throughout Chile. Many members of the Santiago workforce collaborate with the foundation to employ interns from the program and support other initiatives.
