  • Yuki Hashimoto (52kg weight class), Nae Udaka (57kg weight class), Miku Tashiro (63kg weight class), and Ruika Sato (78kg weight class) are selected to represent Japan at the World Judo Championships in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Chen-Ling Lien (57kg weight class) earns a place representing Taiwan.
  • The Women's Judo Club competes in the All Japan Businessmen Team Judo Championships and Komatsu grabs victory with a total sweep. The athletes earn their tenth win, which is the highest as the Women's Judo Club.
  • At the World Judo Championships in Chelyabinsk, Russia, Nae Udaka (57kg weight class) earns the gold medal that she had wished for and Miku Tashiro (63kg weight class) competes for the first time to earn a bronze medal.

She also goes on to win the Asian Judo Championships. She sweeps with straight wins by ippon at the August Olympic Games in Athens.
  • Hisae Takara (52kg weight class) takes 2nd at Kodokan Cup All Japan Women's Judo Championships by Weight Category.
  • Mina Watanabe (70kg weight class) wins the Fukuoka International Women's Judo Championships.

  • Komatsu forms the Women's Judo Club. The team starts with seven members under the guidance of Capitan Hitoshi Iwashima and Manager Osamu Hamada.
