Komatsu Ltd. today announced its consolidated business results for three months of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027 (U.S. GAAP). The highlights are described below.
1. Results for three months ended June 30, 2026
For the first three-month period (April 1- June 30, 2026) of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027, consolidated net sales totaled JPY 1,043.1 billion, an increase of 14.7% from the corresponding period a year ago. In the construction, mining and utility equipment business, sales increased from the corresponding period a year ago, supported by the depreciation of the Japanese yen compared to the corresponding period a year ago, improved selling prices, and increased sales volume. In the industrial machinery and others business, sales increased from the corresponding period a year ago, mainly supported by increased sales of large presses for the automobile manufacturing industry and increased sales of maintenance revenues in the excimer laser-related business for the semiconductor industry.
With respect to profits for the first three-month period under review in the construction, mining and utility equipment business, despite factors such as increased costs, profits increased, primarily due to the Japanese yen's depreciation, improved selling prices and an increase in sales volume. In the retail finance and industrial machinery and others business, profits increased. As a result, operating income totaled JPY 151.6 billion, an increase of 8.0% from the corresponding period a year ago and the operating income ratio decreased by 0.9 percentage point from the corresponding period a year ago to 14.5%. Income before income taxes and equity in earnings of affiliated companies increased by 6.7% from the corresponding period a year ago to JPY 140.0 billion. Net income attributable to Komatsu Ltd. increased by 5.4% from the corresponding period a year ago to JPY 96.2 billion.

2. Projection for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027(FY2026)
Komatsu has made upward revisions to its projected consolidated sales and profits for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027 from those announced on April 28, 2026. These revisions reflect demand declines in certain regions affected by the situation in the Middle East expected to be more limited than initially anticipated, as well as reduced impact of U.S. tariffs following changes to certain tariff rates and the latest market outlook.
The average exchange rates assumed in the projection for the second to fourth quarters remain unchanged from those announced on April 28, 2026 (USD 1=JPY 150.0, EUR 1=JPY 174.0, and AUD 1=JPY 106.0). With respect to average exchange rates for the full year, Komatsu now estimates them at USD 1=JPY 152.1, EUR 1=JPY 176.6, and AUD 1=JPY 107.6, reflecting the Japanese yen's greater-than-expected depreciation during the first quarter (Initial assumption: USD 1=JPY 150.0, EUR 1=JPY 174.0, and AUD 1=JPY 106.0).
