Komatsu recognized by CDP as the “A List” with the highest rating for climate change and water

Dec. 10, 2025

Komatsu Ltd. (President and CEO: Takuya Imayoshi) (hereinafter "Komatsu") has been highly evaluated by CDP*, the non-profit global environmental disclosure platform, for its efforts in addressing climate change and water, as well as for its disclosure of related information. As a result, Komatsu has been recognized as an “A List”, receiving the highest rating for climate change and water. This marks the tenth consecutive year that Komatsu has received the highest rating for climate change and the sixth consecutive year for water.

In the CDP climate change category, companies are evaluated on how they integrate climate change measures into their business strategies and implement initiatives such as CO₂ emissions reduction and risk management. In the water category, assessments focus on how companies manage water-related risks—such as shortages and flooding—within their operations and across their supply chains, as well as the governance structures and initiatives in place to address these challenges.

Under the Strategic Growth Plan launched this fiscal year, Komatsu continues to set management targets for reduction of environmental impact, including CO₂ emissions, and has established KPIs for reducing water consumption, ensuring sustained efforts over the medium to long term.
For climate change, Komatsu is committed to reducing CO₂ emissions from production process, while also working on reducing CO₂ emissions during product use through multiple initiatives, including the development of electric construction equipment powered by batteries and hydrogen fuel cells (FC), power sources compatible with carbon-neutral fuels and hydrogen, and efforts within its solutions and remanufacturing businesses. We are also working on the development of underwater electric construction robots and other technologies to prevent damage from natural disasters caused by climate change and provide recovery post-disaster.
For water, Komatsu continues to optimize water use while improving water efficiency in production—such as recycling cooling water and converting water-cooled systems to air-cooled ones—in order to reduce the volume of newly introduced water. In addition, Komatsu’s efforts to strengthen corporate governance and proactively disclose information on these initiatives have also been recognized.
