From the outset, “Demining Cambodia” was designed to challenge industry expectations and redefine how purpose-driven storytelling can drive meaningful change. The campaign used anime to tell the story of how Komatsu’s technology and people are helping clear landmines and reclaim land for communities. To date the campaign reached more than 120 million people worldwide, smashing channel benchmarks and generating a surge of positive reactions and reshares across social platforms.

The LIA, renowned for its rigorous and transparent judging process, celebrates excellence in advertising, design, digital, technology, and branded content. Komatsu’s win in the Breaking Sector Convention category is a testament to the company’s commitment to purposeful branding.

“Demining Cambodia” is part of Komatsu’s “Gentle giants” brand campaign approach, which focus on the company’s work to support at-risk communities around the world and career paths within the company that contribute to these efforts, bringing to life the impact one can have working at Komatsu with the goal of increasing brand awareness to attract diverse talent.

“Our strategic brand efforts are rooted in a genuine commitment to the communities we serve and we are honored to play a part in supporting initiatives that make a difference,” said Takuya Imayoshi.

The recognition underscores Komatsu’s ongoing investment in brand-building as a driver of business growth, future talent attraction and market leadership. Strategic brand efforts are part of Komatsu's 2025-27 Strategic Growth Plan to help drive sustainable growth for the Tokyo-based global business.

Komatsu thanks everyone involved in bringing this campaign to life, from concept to execution to activation, and acknowledges the vital role of the entities involved in the ongoing project work in Cambodia.
